This is an exciting opportunity to learn how to write and produce music for sync, with the goal of having your songs pitched and placed in current TV shows, movies, advertising, and trailers.
Attendees will be establishing new relationships with music supervisors, who are actively looking for songs to place within their projects.
As a result of this program, our participants have expanded their sync catalogs, broadened their network of collaborators and supervisors, and landed significant placements in film, TV, trailer, and advertising including; Batwoman, Kung Fu, Sex Lives of College Girls, Lucha, Riverdale, Maggie, Maybelline and the 2023 Fast X movie Trailer.

Learn critical skills and knowledge required to build a successful sync career, to include the unique elements for each sync segment ( TV, film, advertising, trailers/promos)

Program Outline
Each day begins with a Master Class conducted by SWC faculty along with two visiting Music Supervisors (a total of six music supervisors over the three-day camp). During these sessions, participants will learn about current trends in sync placement, the range of musical styles that are in demand, and how to appropriately communicate and follow-up with supervisors (professional etiquette specific to sync).
Each day, participants are placed into groups of three, along with an assigned music supervisor. The day’s briefs are discussed in more detail, allowing for the group to decide what they want to write for. The music supervisor will return later in the day to listen to the progress of the song and provide feedback and suggestions. SWC faculty and a PEN Music Publishing representatives are available throughout the day to support and guide each team.
Participants will be involved in the writing of a total of three fully produced songs during the course of this program.
The Playback Party is an opportunity for all of the groups to play their completed songs for the SWC faculty, Music Supervisors and Publishing representatives.
Pre-requisites for attendance:
Experience
Intermediate to Advanced-level songwriting, to include co-writing experience. Producers and Artists must have the ability to record and produce a professional recording.
Portfolio
Examples of your work will be required as part of the admission process. We encourage you to provide songs across a variety of musical genres, as you will be writing to a wide range of sync briefs.
The majority of briefs fall within the broad genre of pop.

FAQs
What level of experience do I need to attend this camp?
This camp is for the intermediate to advanced level songwriter with extensive collaborative songwriting experience, and with prior experience writing for sync.
Do we need to have a recording facility at home to attend this camp?
As you will be writing and producing songs directly for music supervisors and their briefs, you will need to be able to record to a high quality at home. Producers are required to create tracks and mix in their home studios, and artists must be able to record their vocals to a high standard.
Do we need a publishing company to attend this camp?
You will be required to have a publishing company name registered at a PRO in your home country. All songs produced at the camp will be administered by PEN Music Group on behalf of your registered publishing company name. If you are already signed to a publisher or sync rep company, please contact us directly before applying to attend this camp.
Have any songs written at the camp ever been licensed?
Yes, we have had many songs written at the camp placed in shows, with our most prominent placement to date being the hit show Batwoman.
